Ray Williamson Pool Rehabilitation Update

The Ray Williamson Pool is undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation in its existing configuration. This is an important investment to ensure the facility continues to serve our growing community safely and reliably for decades to come. The project modernizes aging infrastructure and enhances the swimmer experience.

Key building systems are being renovated and upgraded, including HVAC and pool filtration systems within the Aquatic Center. These improvements will enhance safety and functionality while extending the life of the pool by a minimum of 20 years, ensuring it remains a vital community resource.

Phase 1 of the project began in September 2024 and focused on major facility upgrades such as mechanical system replacements, structural renovations, and safety enhancements. The Ray Williamson Pool closed in March 2025 to allow this work to proceed safely and efficiently. It reopened temporarily in Summer 2025.

Looking Ahead: Phase 2

Beginning in early May, Ray Williamson Pool will temporarily close as Phase 2 of planned improvements gets underway.

Construction crews are scheduled to mobilize on site as soon as May 4, with the pool expected to close shortly after (within a few days to one week).

This phase will focus on extensive pool-area renovations. Key improvements include replacement of the concrete pool deck and perimeter tile, upgrades to pool filtration and plumbing systems, and removal and replacement of the pool liner coating. Additional safety and accessibility upgrades, such as new VGB drains and handrail replacements, will also be completed.

During this closure, the Don Nakata Pool schedule will be adjusted to accommodate. Through cooperation and careful planning,  we will keep our community swimming while building a stronger, safer facility for the future.
