NEW PROGRAM!!
SECOND SATURDAY
Waterfront Park Community Center
What if we built a new FREE program to offer community members of all ages experience with new modes of artistic expression empowering them to offer their time and skills in service to valuable island programs…what might that look like?
Beginning in 2013, a monthly three-hour event will occur on the SECOND Saturday of each month at the Waterfront Park Community Center. After a casual gathering over coffee and breakfast treats, participants will be instructed in the creation of a craft project to be finished within the morning’s timeframe. The completed projects will be donated to an area service organization in response to local needs. Each new project/media/technique is a stand-alone learning event, but we’ll be delighted to schedule an ongoing, weekly class when enthusiasm warrants.
For example, March 9th's Service Saturday will introduce the art of mosaic tiles. Each participant will complete a garden stepping stone that will be donated to our very own Bainbridge Island Senior Community non-profit! They will be showcased in the terrace garden when newly landscaped this Spring. At the end of the event, members may begin to meet weekly so that they can continue to work on their own mosaic projects, such as jewelry boxes, sundials, deck tables or picture frames.
Help us build this new and important program to its greatest good (and most fun!)
