General Interest
A Family History of John Nelson Park Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
John Nelson Park is a family donation to the City of Winslow in 1950. A ground lease to the Park District occurred in 2002 but was released in 2004 to allow purchase of public shorelines in 2004 consented to by the donor’s heir. Today, approximately an acre remains at the original site along #305 north of Winslow Way, subject to future park design. This family history is thought to be a benefit to the Historical Society and gives a narrative providing the story of one pioneering family on Bainbridge while marking the significance behind an important land donation. We'd like to thank Gerry Elfendahl for making this history available for the public to enjoy.
