Transmitter Building Renovation Project

At long last! After more than four years of intense work, the Transmitter Building Renovation has been completed! This new program facility located at Battle Point Park is over 3,100 square feet and will accommodate gymnastic classes, open playtime, and other recreation programs.

This project has been a partnership of the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District and community volunteers. The partnership to date has contributed over $350,000 which included community donations, in-kind donations, grants and local philanthropic contributions.

A special thanks to the architect of the project and committee member Dana Webber, who volunteered all of her time to this project. To the hardest working committee ever - Bernadette Stephen-McCrae, Amy Curran, Cindy Rees, Jean Welch, Bryan Garoutte, Norton Schimke and Lorry Gilbreath - you are the greatest! Park Services staff - we couldn’t have done it without all your hard work. Thanks also to the Board of Commissioners of BIMPRD for continued support and encouragement, and to Robbie Robinson, Perry Barrett, John DeMeyer and Executive Director Terry Lande.
